Job Description: We're accepting applications for joining Riskline as a Part-Time Junior Analyst on the Asia-Pacific (APAC) team, which covers regional and global developments in politics, security and travel. Ideal candidates will have a strong academic background or professional experience in politics, government, international relations, security studies or regional studies, and will be based in UTC+8 to UTC+12 time zones.

Candidates must have excellent analytical, writing and editing skills and be able to work under short deadlines and with little direct supervision. Regional language skills are highly valued.

The role offers a remote work contract, with a set schedule, working local business hours on Saturday and Sunday; an initial training period will take place on weekdays. The role involves daily monitoring and reporting on political and security developments worldwide, as well as supporting regional analysis for country- and city-specific security threats.


Desired Skills & Experience: This role requires the ability to think critically and produce high-quality long and short written reports in British (UK) English under tight deadlines. The candidate will be able to analyse complex situations and evaluate the risks they may pose to our clients to provide them with clear and concise information and advice. The position requires the candidate to manage time effectively, work under pressure and accept peer review.


Knowledge & Experience

Required:

  • Postgraduate degree in international relations, political science, security studies, regional studies, geography, journalism or related subjects
  • High level of knowledge and understanding of political and/or security issues within APAC or one of its subregions
  • Experience living, working and/or travelling extensively in the APAC region


Qualifications & Skills

Required:

  • Academic or professional writing experience in UK English
  • Ability to write clearly, concisely and confidently to tight deadlines
  • Ability to identify and interpret events and developments of potential interest or concern to clients
  • Located within the APAC region, ideally in UTC+8 to UTC+12 time zones
  • Available to work during local business hours through the weekdays during training, and thereafter on Saturdays and Sundays.


Preferred:

  • Working knowledge of regional language(s)
  • Experience using spreadsheets and/or databases
  • Experience with open-source intelligence (OSINT) and social media research
  • Experience working remotely as part of a team
  • Awareness of issues related to misinformation and disinformation
